The last office chair wheels you'll need
Not all chair casters are created equal. These heavy-duty wheels pair a steel frame, precision ball bearings and a durable polyurethane tread, so your chair keeps rolling smoothly through years of daily use.
- Made for daily use. Steel frame, ball bearings and a polyurethane tread.
- Standard stem size. Fits chairs with a 7/16″ × 7/8″ stem.
- Quick swap. Pull the old wheels out and push these in.
Floors & noise
Gentle on floors, quiet underfoot
The polyurethane tread is made to roll across hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile and carpet, so you can retire the chair mat and move freely around the room.
On carpet, smoothness depends on pile height: low-pile carpet rolls more easily than high-pile.
- Floor-friendly tread. Soft polyurethane designed for hard floors and carpet.
- No chair mat needed. Roll straight across the room on your existing floor.
- Quiet glide. Smooth, quiet rolling for calls and late-night work.
Fit check
Check your stem size before you order
These casters use a standard 7/16″ × 7/8″ stem, the size found on most rolling office and gaming chairs. Pull one old wheel out and compare its stem with the measurements below.
- Stem size: 7/16″ × 7/8″ (1.1 cm × 2.2 cm)
- Wheel size: 3″ (7.6 cm)
- In the box: 5 clear casters
- Not compatible: Chairs with a different stem size. Measure your current caster before ordering.
Installation
Swap your wheels in three steps
No special tools are required. Most chairs take just minutes.
- Pull. Pull the old casters straight out of the chair legs.
- Push. Push each new caster stem into the leg socket until it is firmly seated.
- Roll. Check that each caster is seated, then roll away.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do these wheels roll well on carpet, rugs and chair mats?
They are made for hard floors and carpet, but how smoothly they roll depends on the surface. Some customers report the casters catching or turning slowly on medium- or high-pile carpet, soft rugs and some glass chair mats. They work best on hard floors and low-pile carpet. If your chair moves between a hard floor and a rug, expect more resistance on the rug.
If they do not suit your surface, see our Returns policy (90-day returns).
Will they fit my chair?
These casters use a standard 7/16″ × 7/8″ stem. A few customers found their chair's stem was a different size. Before you order, pull one existing caster out and compare its stem with the measurements in the fit check above.
Why does my chair roll away on a hard floor, and is there a brake option?
The tread rolls freely, which some customers find too free on hard floors, for example when sitting down or standing up. If that worries you, take a look at the Clear wheels with brakes.
Will they make my chair sit higher?
A little. Some customers report the chair sitting about ¼–½ inch higher than with their original casters, depending on the original wheels. If seat height or clearance under your desk is tight, compare your current wheel height first, or look at the 2-inch set.
What is the weight capacity?
The set of 5 has a combined load capacity of up to 650 lbs. A number of customers over 300 lbs, and a few under, reported bent or worn casters within months, so if you are near the top of the range or sit for many hours a day, contact Lifelong Support before ordering.
How long do they last, and what if a wheel squeaks or leaks grease?
Casters wear with daily use. Some customers report squeaking, stiff pivoting or grease coming from the swivel bearing after several months to a couple of years. If a wheel squeaks, sticks or leaks grease, stop using it, because grease can mark flooring, and contact Lifelong Support. Your purchase includes a 1-year warranty; see the warranty terms for details.
20201029 update: The wheels may be a bit taller than ½" - you tell me. You may notice a brief "sticking" when rolling around when the wheels pivot. One thing I'm Not happy with is the price increased $3, then another $2 for a total of $5 since I purchased them. I was going to buy a set for my husband, but I will wait for the price to go back down - I don't appreciate increases and think the price I paid was sufficient. Everyone else has said what there is to be said for the quietness and ease of gliding along the floor now. I have little I could add to their glowing reviews other than: - As a gal with waist length hair and 3 dogs I am Thrilled all that hair will no longer pose a problem. 20201029 update: I Did sweep before "installing" the new wheels, but they are picking up hair so there will still be maintenance involved; however, it will be far easier to clean these than my old casters. - My back was getting tweaked from trying to turn and my caster wheels stopping me. Particularly with the latest arthritic flare up that's trying to make an appearance. Well, la da dee dee da . . . no more of that nonsense! - Gone is the fugly plastic floor protector that Never stayed in place for more than a couple hours; which means Also gone is the sand, dust, and dog hair that said protector collected, only to grind into my lovely floors - I sit approximately ½" taller now. As someone who shrunk 1½" over the last 20 years (boo hiss Acquired Scoliosis, you suck!) I regained some height! If only while I sit. It counts! - I can now move the legs of the chair where I need them. My previous casters held fast and I couldn't situate the chair to where I could comfortably rest my feet (I often sit to where my feet are supported by the legs) or they wouldn't budge when I tried to move them away from my sub woofer (it prevented me from scooching in all the way to my desk and when you're short All the space matters!) - Arthritis is in my hands, too (I truly won the lottery!) and these were a breeze to "install." Can it truly be called an "install" when the things are joined to the chair effortlessly? I spend more time buttering toast than I did "installing" these wheels They're basically soft rollerblade wheels if anyone needs a comparable item. The only thing that would make these better is lighting options! You know, like the little kiddo shoes that blink when they walk. During the day it's my work chair, at night it's my gaming chair and we gamers are fond of our lighting options, typed as I watch my sunset theme wave across my keyboard. Get them - you won't be sorry. I'm ordering a set for my husband right after I click "Submit" (and then re-re-re-check my review for errors).
5 out of 5 stars. Pros: ~ Quality made ~ Clean Design ~ Easy Installation ~ Smooth action (Minus 1 roller, explained below) Cons: Save for 1 roller hanging up on a test roll ( in hands ), Nothing to note here. TL;DR: Rollers are quality made. I had to apply oil to get a smoother roll, and one wheel hangs up in a certain spot. Nothing to sway a star. Floors: 8/10 I'm using these wheels on a carpeted section of a Garage. They feel Solid. Are roughly 1/4 inch taller than the factory rollers on an AKRacing Gaming chair. Smooth movement on chair, even with 1 wheel hanging up on a test roll in hands. Though the wheels do catch on the carpet a little and tilting happens - I don't think this is the wheels themselves, I feel it's the actual size of the chair base being too small. Installation: 10/10 Easy as counting to 5. Apply the stud of the wheel into the hole of the chair base, apply pressure until the stud is seated firmly. Noise Level: 10/10 Absolutely no noise from wheels. Below Whisper quiet. Conclusion: I applied 3in1 oil to the bearings of each wheel to loosen up the factory tightness of the bearings. This does not warrant losing a star imo. Factory is Factory. There is 1 wheel that hangs up while rotating. I tested each wheel out in my hands before installing them. 1 wheel hangs up at around the 3/4 turn mark of a full rotation. It could be a bur in the bearing housing, a bearing out of alignment, or any number of things. I do not sense the wheel's resistance while setting in the chair though. This does not warrant the lose of a star imo. Quality product. Will buy again. Will suggest to friends and family.
The wheels roll really smoothly, I have them on an aeron chair at this point. Only thing is, they are not very giving in terms of changing direction, like forwards and backwards requires a little more coercion to allow movement as a result. They are very well built, and the roller balls are clearly shown and sturdy in terms of their mounting. For the promotional pricing I got them for, they are excellent. They also fit standard diameters easily. Good value.
These wheels are overall great! But just today I heard a squeaky noise as I rolled and wasn't sure what it was from as these are usually dead silent. I took a look and one of the wheels has delaminated (the rubber has separated from the base) on one wheel about half way around. This causes it to make a squeak sound when it rolls over that bubble. No idea how it happened as I don't even really roll around much on my chair so it seems that it's just reaching the end of it's life in less than a year. Again, it's only happened to one so far. Not sure if the seller would be willing to do something about it this late in the game but just wanted to make the public aware of this. UPDATE: changing from 4 star to 5 star. The company offered to send me a new set of wheels even though it was 7 months after my purchase. I just received the product and am very great full. I really love this product and the support they offered and went above and beyond makes this a 5 start product / company. Thanks again! UPDATE 2: I don't remember how many months it's been since my replacement, but once again, one of the wheels delaminated and did the same exact thing. With that said, I will not change my rating from a 5. I still love these wheels, even if they now make a squeaky sound when I roll around.
I got this set of replacement wheels from Lifelong because we just installed new laminate in our family area and I did not want to risk damaging it with the of plastic dually wheels that our computer chair came with. My som in law recently installed some on an office chair which he uses in a carpeted area, so a different surface, however he recommended this stye for smooth operation, easy swivel and rolling. Those are all evident as I took my wife’s chair for a short test drive. I like the firm urethane tire and steel frame construction, with the smooth operating ball bearing in each wheel as well as in the swivel post. I appreciate the satisfaction guarantee that the company provides.
